General Informations

What are the check-in and out times?

Check in and out times are different for each property.

Check in from:

The Cart Barn - 4:00 PM

The Horse Box - 12:00 PM

Check out from:

The Cart Barn - 11:00 AM

The Horse Box - 12:00 PM

How do I access the property / check-in?

-Each property has a Ring intercom fitted, please press the bell and the hosts on site will then be alerted of your arrival and come over to check you in.

We don’t offer self check in as there are some things we need to show you in person.

Why can’t I book a 1 night stay?

-Unfortunately, we do not offer one-night stays at any of our properties as we do not operate a hotel service. The cost of changeover for properties like these in our location are very high so one night stays just aren’t profitable for us, sorry for any disappointment.

Do you provide linen and towels?

-Yes, all of our properties provide bed linen and beds will be made up ready for your arrival.

All properties provide a minimum of 1 bath and hand towel per person.

A bath mat and tea towel is also provided.

What is provided in your properties?

-All properties provide the following essential items:

Bed linen, towels, all utilities, Netflix and WiFi. There are also complimentary logs, kindling and fire lighters for the hot tub and if there is a log burner (the first basket of logs are provided complimentary, any additional logs must be purchased).

All properties will have a supply of basic household items, if you run out of these items please feel free to ask us to replenish them. Basic household items include log roll, kitchen cloths, tea towels, washing up liquid, pan scrub, pepper, salt, tea, Nespresso pods, sugar, bin liners, as well as dishwasher tablets (where applicable).

All properties have fully equipped kitchens with all the usual appliances you would expect to find in a kitchen. There will be a good supply of cooking and baking equipment to allow you to prepare food easily. There will also be enough crockery/cutlery/glassware etc for two.

If guests have a specific item(s) they need for their stay, we advise you to bring it with you.

Do you have WiFi?

-Yes, WiFi is provided free of charge at all of our properties. WiFi connectivity is provided by an aerial and router in the roof. It uses a satellite signal rather than a landline. As such our signal can vary, most of the time you’ll find it is relatively fast and reliable. However, (usually depending on if there is harsh weather) the signal can become slow and patchy.

Are children allowed to stay?

-Our properties at Holland Farm Barns are small, romantic homes built with couples in mind and the surroundings are not particularly child friendly. For that reason we ask that just two adults stay with us. Unfortunately, we are unable to host guests under the age of 16 and this includes guests just visiting. This is to do with our insurance policy. As much as we would love to have younger guests stay, it is not possible with the current set up and location of the barn which our insurance provider deems as too risky for children under the age of 16.

Can you recommend restaurants, things to do and places to visit?

-We certainly can! On booking you will receive a link to our virtual welcome guide that has whole sections with our recommendations on where to eat, places to see and things to do.

Pets

Are pets allowed?

-Yes, the Cart Barn is pet friendly! The Horse Box is our dedicated pet free property for guests that have allergies etc.

Are the garden and outdoor spaces completely enclosed?

-Yes, the Cart Barn’s garden is fully enclosed with wood post and wire fencing (about waist height) around the entire boundary. Access is via a lockable gate. Since opening we haven’t had an escapee yet! However we do ask guests to supervise their pets while outside, we have livestock bordering the barn so better to be safe than sorry.

Are there any additional fees to pay if bringing pets?

-There are no additional fees to pay for any number of pets, we just ask that you follow our pet policy as excessive hair, extra cleaning or damage to the property is chargeable.

How many pets are allowed?

-There isn't a specific limit on the number of pets we accommodate, and of course this will vary depending on the size and type of pet. But please keep in mind these are small homes, built with couples in mind. As a guide we recommend a maximum of three large dogs (eg. Labradors). For any more than three dogs please contact us first to confirm we can accommodate.

Can I bring any type of pet?

-Most types of pet within reason are more than welcome to stay! Dogs, Cats, Hamsters are all fine. However please don't bring large or specialist pets with you. For example, don't expect us to allow a horse or dwarf crocodile, or any type of crocodile for that matter! (It may seem crazy we have to put this down in writing but you'd be surprised!)

Basically, if you are bringing more than three pets or anything other than a dog or cat please contact us before arrival to check we can accommodate this.

Hot Tub

Is the Hot Tub exclusive for our stay?

-Yes indeed! Each property at Holland Farm Barns has a hot tub exclusively available for the entirety of your stay .

Is the Hot Tub electric?

-They are traditional Scandinavian wood fired hot tubs. These are much more eco friendly, use fresh water without the need for chemicals and fit in well with the rural surroundings. Although they take a bit more time to heat up compared to electric hot tubs, most guests find it worth the extra effort!

Are logs provided?

-Yes, the first load of logs are provided complimentary, most guests find this lasts them two cycles of heating up the hot tub. Additional logs can be purchased on site for our wholesale price of £20 a load. Of course you are also very welcome to bring or purchase more logs elsewhere, we just ask that only kiln dried or seasoned hardwood is used in the burner.

How long does it take to heat up?

-The water should take around 3-4 hours to heat up in the winter and 2-3 hours in the summer. After the first time using the hot tub we recommend leaving the insulated lid on as you’ll likely find it is still warm the next day and just needs an hour or so of fire to reach the optimum temperature.

Area

Where are you based?

-We are based right on the edge of Dartmoor beside the border of Devon & Cornwall. A very convenient location that can easily reach all parts of the county.

Whats the nearest town to you?

-We are of equal distance between the charming ancient market town of Tavistock in Devon and the more modern town of Launceston in Cornwall. Both are about a 15-20 minute drive from Holland Farm Barns.

Is there an EV charging point on site?

-We’re working on it! This will hopefully be a new feature on the site soon. For now we can recommend the 16 x Tesla Superchargers (250kw) at Arundell Arms Hotel & Farm Shop in Lifton (around 10 minutes from the Barn).

And then there are 6 x 75kw podpoint charging points at Strawberry Fields Farm Shop, also based in Lifton.
